Where the story found its spark

This book began with two places that refused to let me go: the quiet, charged rooms of the Anne Frank House, and a seventeenth‑century Dutch hotel once home to communal living. Their atmospheres — layered, human, echoing — became the first threads of this novel’s tapestry.

What I hope lingers with readers

At its core, this story carries a conviction I hold fiercely:

anti‑semitism must never be allowed space to grow.

History shows us how easily prejudice becomes persecution — from medieval scapegoating to political upheaval to the horrors of the Holocaust. Through Anne, Chana and Lisa, I hope readers feel both the vulnerability and the strength of lives shaped by intolerance, and the necessity of standing against it.

The writing journey

From the first notes in 2023 to the final edits in 2025, this novel grew slowly, steadily, shaped by editors, beta readers and the time I gained after I stopped working. Now, it’s ready.
